01 — Sharing joy, living 10,000 miles apart — Priyanka Dangol — Arlington, VA

I asked one of my dearest friends to tell me what has been bringing her joy recently - one of the things we have in common is our shared love for kdramas and matcha (she was the first one to teach me how to make a matcha smoothie!), so doing what brought her joy felt right within my comfort zone :) ily hansa <3 thank you for lending your voice for my project.

02 — Circa 2006, first grader Priyanka sharing the best joke she’s heard that year — Arlington, VA

When i was a six year old, we had a British guest, Barbara, live in our guest apartment for 6 months. i sent her this letter a bit after she had moved out, excited to share the best joke id heard in the first grade.

In 2015, when visiting London for the first time, we had the chance to meet up with Barbara and she showed me that shed kept this letter the entire time - over a decade !!

This joke's Nepali translation makes more sense and seems less dark

03 — la gioia che mi date (the joy you give me) — ila — Bologna, Italy

What brings me joy? Is saying my family and friends too easy? Well i think joy can be quite simple. A moment that you can evidently see that has lighten me up recently was my graduation day. Graduating alone brought so much happiness, three years filled with so many experiences, people and emotions. So what better way to show my appreciation for this support than by acts of love. And how better than with my favorite pass time of ceramics. Here is my evolution of joy.

04 — Playing Rain or Shine! — Mary — D.C.

This month I've started playing tennis again. It's been a while! Creating time to play (rain or shine) has brought me an abundance of joy.

Journal Entries

In light of this month’s theme, we’re including some Stranger Bound journal entries from one of Ilaria’s very first journals. The question asked of those who crossed paths with the journal, and put pen to page, was:

  • What’s the nicest thing someone has done for you?
